This coffee shop attracts me very much just by its name.
Near Chinatown station, just 5 minutes' walk away
The large pink wall located in the corner looks very different from the current coffee shop. It is very nostalgic and retro.
The outdoor seating area has a nice atmosphere, but the sun is very strong, so I decided to sit indoors
What a bitter SLOGAN🤣
LIM KOPI LOR means "bringing coffee!" in Taiwanese.
The menus are all at the counter. You can order directly at the counter and then use the caller to pick up your meal yourself.
There is a charge for facial tissue next to the counter (all facial tissue in Singapore is charged, which is different from Taiwan), so don’t just take it away~
Drinks and snacks are provided
There are also some light meals
Singapore's classic New English "Singlish" has its own very unique way of ordering drinks. I find it difficult 😂 but Chinese is also spoken here, so just order in Chinese.
I originally thought it was hot outside, so I chose a seat indoors, but it turned out to be even hotter indoors! Very uncomfortable 😢
Iced milk tea ($2.90 SGD)
I originally wanted to order the signature hot coffee, but it was too hot to drink, so I ended up ordering iced milk tea, which was delicious. The tea taste was very, very strong. There were a lot of ice cubes and it tasted very refreshing.
Pork Chest Fun with Minced Mushrooms and Pork ($3.00 SGD)
The original rice rolls are topped with minced pork that looks like braised pork, seasoned with scallions, and paired with chili sauce on the side. It tastes pretty good, quite Taiwanese.
Kaya Butter Toast ($2.6 SGD)
A portion of four slices of toast. Compared with Yakun, Yakun tastes more like brick-pressed toast, which is solid and crispy. This one is more like ordinary toast, with a crispy surface and fluffy bread. Both are good. food
Full of cream and kaya sauce ~ tastes exactly like Ya Kun, delicious
They also sell coffee powder bags, which you can buy and drink at home.
Overall, I think the food is quite delicious, and the overall retro and nostalgic decoration is also very distinctive, but the environment is really big ~ big deduction.
I don’t know if it’s because I arrived around 5pm and it was almost closing (it closes at 18:30).
There is no wind outside and there is direct sunlight, and it is very stuffy inside. Both of them are uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning in a place as hot and humid as Singapore. It is very painful to eat and you will suffer from heatstroke.
If you just want to have a drink and take a rest, this retro-style cafe is a good choice~
