Edamame is one of Sendai’s specialties. In particular, this shop "ずんだsaryo" sells many edamame desserts. It has many branches in Sendai (actually, they are also available in Tokyo and Osaka, but you can only eat Sendai's specialties in Sendai XD)

The one I went to today is B1 of the S-PAL department store in Sendai Station. It was very crowded.

In Taiwan, edamame is eaten salty, but the edamame products here are all sweet, which is very different from Taiwan.

The store is all green with edamame, which is inexplicably healing 😂 But the space is quite small, and there are many customers, so it’s a bit crowded

There’s also edamame cheesecake, it’s so special🤣

We ordered a large cup of edamame milkshake and edamame mochi. The price is divided into take-out and dine-in. But we told the clerk that we wanted to dine-in, and he still gave us the take-out packaging and price. I don’t know why.

Large edamame milkshake (470 yen)

The milkshake is very, very rich, and requires a little effort to suck it in. The edamame flavor is not very obvious, but the milky flavor is very strong, but it still retains a bit of the graininess of the edamame, which is quite delicious! But it's a little sweet

Edamame mochi (420 yen)

There are 3-4 pieces of original mochi in a whole cup of mashed edamame puree. The mochi is very chewy and chewy. The edamame puree has a strong edamame flavor, but also adds a lot of sugar, so it won’t feel weird when paired with it. The edamame flavored dessert tastes really good🤣I think it’s quite delicious, but my friend thinks the edamame flavor is too strong and he can’t handle it haha

The store also sells a variety of edamame peripheral products, such as edamame jam, edamame mochi, edamame biscuits... suitable for buying back to Taiwan for distribution, but they are also available at the airport, so you don’t have to buy them here.

I bought a box of this edamame mochi myself, and it was very different from the ones I had in the store. The mochi was not delicious at all, and the filling was just sweet, with no edamame flavor at all, and it was not very delicious.

Although it’s a bit weird to think of edamame being used as a dessert, and it’s not particularly delicious, it’s really special. You must try it especially when you come to Sendai!
