There are many different museums in Vienna. Today we went to the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Although it is not as famous as the Belvedere Palace and the Schönbrunn Palace, it has a great background. It is one of the museums with the richest collection in the world, containing various works of art and sculptures. , collectibles and paintings. You can buy tickets on the official website and use them on the same day, which is very convenient

You can also purchase a guided tour on site, renting a machine for 6€, highly recommended!! There is a huge difference with a guided tour

After purchasing tickets on the official website, you will get this page. Just take a screenshot and provide it to the staff to scan it.

The Kunsthistorisches Museum is in Maria Theresien Platz, opposite the Natural History Museum. It is also worth visiting. The two museums look very similar, so don’t go wrong.

The ticket booth at the entrance has very few tourists compared to other famous museums in Europe.

There are also self-service ticket vending machines inside, and the prices are the same as those on the official website.

As soon as you enter, you will see a tall and majestic hall. Unlike other museums, many museums were originally palaces and were later converted into museums, but this place was originally set up as a museum.

The mural next to the arch is the work of Klimt

On the left side after entering are the locker area and toilets (but there are many other toilets in the museum)

On the right is the souvenir area. You can buy souvenirs after you have finished shopping.

The tour guide is in simplified Chinese and comes with a map for you. The museum has a total of two floors.

The numbers on the map are the works with audio guides, and the Roman numerals are the numbers of the exhibition halls.

Press the number to start the audio guide. It is similar to using a mobile phone and is easy to operate.

This is the Roman numeral (numeral in the exhibition hall). You can find where you are when you get lost XD

The following is a brief introduction to some of the museum’s treasures and works that I find interesting~

"Our Lady of the Prairies" Raphael

This should be a work that you have seen in art textbooks since you were a child! It is also the most famous and must-see treasure in the museum.

"Tower of Babel" Pieter Bruegel

This is also one of the treasures of the town. It is said that in order to go to heaven, people united to build a high tower leading to heaven. In the front left of the picture, the king is still inspecting the progress of the project, but God believes that this project is a symbol of human pride. , decided to make humans speak different languages so that people could not communicate with each other and therefore could not complete the task of building the tower. This is also one of the must-see paintings in the museum

"The Art of Painting" Vermeer

"Salt Shaker" Venuto Cellini

That's right!! He is the salt shaker used to hold salt and pepper when eating!! The girl on the left represents the land and the boy represents the ocean. The temple in front of the girl is used to hold pepper that grows from the ground; the big boat behind the boy It is used to hold sea salt obtained from the sea. It is made entirely of pure gold. It is super luxurious and exaggerated!! Originally I just wanted to add pepper and salt, but it turned out to be very stressful XD. Moreover, this salt shaker was once stolen, but now it can be used again So lucky to see

〈Diana on a centaur〉Hans Jakob I. Bachmann

This clock is super cool! The eyes of the person in front will move, Diana's head in the back seat will turn, one of the dogs on both sides will turn its head, the other will open its mouth, and the bow and arrow in its hand will shoot out, which is a very delicate craftsmanship. But the clock is not the main function at all. In the past, the palace nobles would put it on the dining table when eating, and the person who was shot by the arrow in the end would have to drink a drink. It is basically a modern drinking game XD

"Peasant Wedding" Peasant Painter-Brezier

"Four Continents" Rubens

When looking at this painting, one would never think that it actually depicts the four continents. The four girls represent the four continents of the world (Australia had not yet been discovered at that time). From left to right, they are Europe, Africa, and America (the latest discovery, so the youngest Girl 🤣), Asia, if there was no tour guide, I would never have thought that he was describing the four continents, it is really amazing😂

〈Princess Margherita Teresa in pink dress〉

This is a portrait of little Princess Terasa when she was 3 years old. There are also portraits of her when she was 5 and 8 years old. I like this painting just because I think she looks a lot like my niece🤣

"Jesus with the Crown of Thorns" by Titian

There are people copying at the scene, which is very impressive.

There is also a cafe on the first floor, which looks beautiful from above. If you are tired from shopping, you can go in and take a rest.

You can also see the spectacular octagonal dome ceiling from below

Although this museum is much smaller than large museums like the Louvre, it took me 4 hours just to see the works with audio guides. There are really many collections, and the crowds are not too crowded. If you have time, I recommend everyone to spend half a day visiting this small but beautiful museum.
